The Oro-Trade and Investment Promotions Center in partnership with the US Agency for International Development (USAID) Urban Connect conducted a forum on Business Enabling Environment and Local Investment Incentives Priorities on June 20, 2024.
This forum highlights the best practices for developing and updating Local Investment and Incentives Codes (LIIC) to foster a business-friendly environment.
Regular revisions of LIIC are essential for local governments to attract and retain investments, thereby driving economic growth. Key strategies discussed included stakeholder engagement, financial analysis, and benchmarking against successful models. Emphasis was placed on the importance of transparency, consistency, and targeted incentives such as tax breaks and streamlined regulations.
BEE Specialist Mr. Ryan Evangelista provided insights on updating Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) and LIIC for Cagayan de Oro. He shared tools, tips, and templates for developing a Strategic Investment Priority Plan tailored to the city’s needs.
